As part of their Big Music Week 2010, Ireland’s primary television broadcaster RTÉ aired a fantastic documentary about Irish music last night. It follows singer Moya Brennan (formerly of Clannad fame) as she traces the influence of jazz, rock, punk and pop on traditional Irish music. What’s particularly impressive about the programme was the selection of Irish artists she managed to interview in the process, which include Bono, Adam Clayton, Shane McGowan, Christy Moore, Donal Lunny, Paddy Moloney, John Sheehan and Liam Clancy to name but a few.
The programme is available on RTÉ Player for the next 20 days and is well worth viewing.
