by I found this interesting article on Video Codecs on Atomic MPC earlier and found it quite informative (without going into too much detail). As a part-time dabbler in digital video editing I am constantly baffled by number of codecs that may or may not be supported by my video editing software. This article went some way to help understand why so many of them exist.
